Just imagine if toontown wasn't limited by Panda3D! We could be ripping up Toontown in Frostbite 3 with 8k resolution textures and full street loading, no full world loading! :D haha but speaking realistically here, I would have liked to see this game remade in a different, more powerful engine :)

Hmm If the engine does not support .mf files it the game will crash. JUST Crash.

Problem is that there could be higher server costs together with it plus two different engines may mean different skills which would most likely cause ttr to have a serious do over
Plus I'm fine with the current engine, they could always upgrade their own engine,so yea...

I mean, if TTR is still going strong for a few years, I could see that being a viable option, but since it hasn't gotten past the initial 3 year mark, I'd say that it's too soon. And the servers are already shaky as is, and putting more strain on the system may not be the best way for now. Although, it is a nice idea.

Frostbite wouldn't work well at all with toontown, plus it would cost too much.

8k isn't even out yet but 6k is on the works!

Frostbite needs to run on very good computers, and I don't think the current server computers can handle that power, plus we need new textures!

Engines don't add things like lighting (as seen in DICE games), these are all implemented in-game with the usage of coding, Frostbite just enhances this experience!

    They'd use a better engine than Panda3D.

Unreal would probably be the best bet in terms of recreating the game. The only issue with Unreal itself though would have to be tweaking the physics, because as it stands, Unreal games control... less than desirably.

However, the big thing about porting TTR to a different engine would be reworking the code written in Python. And while its not impossible to do so, it would be a little on the time-consuming side.

Now I can't stop imagining TTO in Unreal Engine 5 with 4k upscaled Ultra HD and graphically taxxing post processing effects like lens flare, ray tracing, and real time dynamic and environmental shadows.
