    Hey There!
I love your idea of a Panda3D related thread! We get to see the talented programmers/modelers/texture-peeps out there! :)
If you guys need any models and I don't have any work for the Team. Get back to me and I'll try to get some models done for you! :)

You may want to learn Python first, or C++ (Python is easier, and Panda3D developers prefer it to a certain extent).

I recommend: http://shop.oreilly.com/product/0636920028154.do it's an excellent book which I am currently reading (the fourth edition, but the fifth edition looks promising; I've had it for around 3 years.)

Jitesh: You don't need to know python (although you are expected to know the basics of atleast 1 programming language.) I didn't know python when I picked up Panda. It was SO easy! But that might be because I have prior programming knowledge.

    Oh my goodness.
    Thank you.
Since about 2 years ago I've always wanted to learn more about python and panda 3D.
I have general knowledge about panda, but not too much in detail.

    :)

I'm working on a project after my Christmas show, if you're interested then drop me a message! You will need some general python or c++ knowledge and know how to use panda 3d.

I'm still working on a video on how to show everything you need to know to extract python files, however Laosinaa has done a good job on a video already. Check that out here.

Has anyone ever converted an original bam file to like a maya file, edited the model, then converted it back to a bam and NOT have all the collision meshes show up making it look like junk?? Here's an example of what I am meaning:

Original viewing of the DD Bam file in Panda:

After converting and converting back, with NO changing of file contents:

I can't figure out why the collisions are showing up visually and it's really annoying!

That's because you need to add the collisions tag back in to get them not looking like junk. :/

    Hi there,
I am interested in learning Panda3D for ToonTown
I am already familiar with a number of serial programing languages including C but I mostly use it for Arduino so it has a library.
I haven't gotten into python yet.
Is Panda3D a free download and does it have help files?
Is there any other suggestions you have for someone who knows how to program but has never used Pands3D that could aide me in learning this program?
I have never programmed 3D modeling except in MAX/MSP/JITTER and I've used blender. ToonTown is the first place I have been introduced to Panda3D
    Thanks,
if someone wanted to send me a message or post on here I would be really grateful though it looks like this area isn't the most active..
    Thanks,
    Petunia

I'm not entirely sure how the python is coded, though the node you're referencing would be a trigger and not necessarily a collision. Your best bet for learning how they function, would probably be to look through some of the current source coding and determine how things happen once the toon comes in contact with the trigger node. I'm taking a guess that some coding has to be done with a FSM (finite state machine). If I recall correctly, this feature controls all the events that occur in the game.
